WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Heidi Heitkamp announced two federal grants totaling over $2,637,243 and $3,339,000 in two federal loans to support Beach and New Town that would make improvements to their sewage and waste water infrastructure to meet the communities growing needs.
“Basic city infrastructure needs must be met for communities across North Dakota to remain strong and keep everyone safe,” said Heitkamp. “These federal funds will help both New Town and Beach make improvements to their water and waste water infrastructure that will help these communities thrive.”
The federal funding will be distributed as follows:
- New Town: $2,330,000 in federal grant funding and a $2,857,000 federal loan will be used to make improvements to the city’s lagoon that will help with continued disposal of sewage to meet population needs.
- Beach: $307,243 in federal grant funding and a $482,000 federal loan will help make waste water infrastructure improvements by installing a new master lift station and install about 4,000 feet of 8 inch force main to replace the city’s aging water and waste water infrastructure.
These federal funds are made available through the U.S. Department of Agriculture Rural Development’s Water and Waste Disposal Loans and Grants program.
