Grand Forks, N.D. – U.S. Senator Heidi Heitkamp announced $341,000 in federal funding for the Tharaldson Ethanol Plant in Casselton to expand the facility through the addition of a new fermenter and cooling tower cell.
“North Dakotans understand what it means to implement a true all-of-the-above energy strategy,” said Heitkamp. “In North Dakota, we have wind, coal, natural gas, and biofuels among other sources that support good-paying jobs, create affordable energy, and keep our nation moving. This federal funding will support the expansion of the ethanol plant in Casselton that produces the fuels to meet our energy demands.”
This federal funding is made available through the U.S. Department of Agriculture Rural Development’s Rural Energy for America Program (REAP). This grant program works to help farmers, ranchers, and rural businesses implement energy efficiency and renewable energy programs.
