WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Heidi Heitkamp announced a federal grant of $846,000 and a federal loan of $1,034,000 for United Tribes Technical College (UTTC) to build a storm water system on the campus in Bismarck.
“Any time we turn on the faucet, water the lawn, or have a storm move through, we rely on water infrastructure to both deliver and remove water from our communities,” said Heitkamp. “Often we don’t even realize how important it is to us every day, but when it no longer meets our needs, it creates challenges. That’s why the federal funds announced today for UTTC will support its ability to remove storm water from campus whether it is raining or snowing to keep the school running smoothly.”
These federal funds are made available through the U.S. Department of Agriculture Rural Development Water and Waste Water Disposal Loan & Grant Program. This program assists rural and tribal communities with federal resources to construct drinking water, waste water, and storm water systems.
