Heitkamp Congratulates Longtime ND Law Enforcement Official Dallas Carlson after U.S. Senate Confirms his U.S. Marshal Nomination
Senator Advocated Strongly for His Nomination, Carlson was Nominated by President Trump Earlier this Year
WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Heidi Heitkamp today congratulated North Dakota Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI) Director Dallas Carlson after the U.S. Senate unanimously confirmed his nomination to serve as U.S. Marshal for the District of North Dakota.
“Dallas Carlson has dedicated his entire public service career to keeping our state’s families and communities safe, and his distinguished record is well-respected among North Dakota law enforcement officials. During my time as Attorney General, I saw firsthand Dallas’s outstanding ability to fight crime, seek justice for victims, and maintain the highest levels of professional integrity,” said Heitkamp. “I’m proud to see Dallas confirmed, and I’m equally proud of our friendship over the years. I know that his on-the-ground experiences with issues like human trafficking, illicit narcotics, and domestic violence will greatly impact the work of the U.S. Marshals in North Dakota as they maintain the rule of law and prevent major crimes. Dallas was my first choice for this job, and I want to congratulate him on his well-deserved confirmation. I wish him the best of luck as he works to protect and serve all North Dakotans.”
Prior to serving as the Director of the North Dakota BCI, Carlson supervised drug investigations in Dickinson and worked as a special agent and then chief agent in the BCI’s Criminal Division. Before joining the BCI, he first worked in law enforcement in 1977 as a Deputy Sherriff with the Ramsey County Sheriff’s Office and then served in the Devils Lake and Mandan police departments. Carlson is a native of Warwick, North Dakota.
